We are excited for another wedding season coming up! We teamed up with our friend Holly Decker who helped put together a dream team of Saskatoon Wedding Vendors to give you a little inspiration for your upcoming 2024 and 2025 wedding day!

This collection of bridal portraits was captured in our Saskatoon Studio. Our inspiration required a dreamy all white space for the photography. We started by laying down white photography backdrop paper on the ground, and then added layers of hanging organza from the ceiling. This mixed with our large dual eight by eight foot windows gave the look we wanted. Why we chose this style was it allowed the florals and skin tones to pop.

We also started the idea by knowing we’d use two types of lighting. First was ambient light (what you see from the window), and then studio flash. Ambient lighting has a beautiful look that 90% of our images are photographed with. Flash or strobe lights are used here and there. This type of lighting is what gives a glam/HollyWood look to the images. Typically we reserve it for darker spaces, or venues that don’t have optimal lighting setups. If done right, it can be a beautiful tool to create portraits that are unique, and create a set of images that you would expect to see at the Oscars.

Florals

Although neutrals continue to be a favourite, this year we’re seeing a lot more colour in florals - from a mix of fun pastels to saturated and bold tones, along with trends such as high impact installations, low greenery bouquets, and light and airy flowers with a lot of movement.

Photography

Editorial photography is back bringing a style of imagery that is 2 parts Hollywood, and 1 part paparazzi. There will be a balance of candid event style, with a slight lean towards fashion inspired portraiture. Think ballgowns and tuxedos. People want to look and feel good. This isn’t just for the bridal party either. Guests are excited to join in on the celebrations wearing beautiful outfits which is going to make great reception portraits.

Makeup

A bride can never sparkle too much. We are seeing all the colours and all the glam.

Hair

We’re starting to see a lot more brides embracing wearing their hair down for 2024! The glam wave was super popular last year and it’s coming back this year with a more effortless soft approach. We’re also seeing more deeper side parts, which is a refreshing change from the popular middle part over the last few years.

2024 hair trends are all about classic favourites like the sultry retro wave or the 90’s high twist updo but with all the modern touches.

Wedding Gown

Feminine details! Florals, bows & sparkles will play a huge roll in the bridal fashion this year. We will see this make way for elegant fabrics and turn of the century silhouettes as we close out 2024 and enter 2025.
