Allan & Elaine’s Intimate Malcolm Hotel Wedding in Canmore
A relaxed mountain celebration with heart, intention, and joy
Allan and Elaine were married at The Malcolm Hotel in Canmore on a warm September day that felt effortless from start to finish. With the Rockies standing tall around them, their wedding was intimate, unhurried, and deeply personal. No wedding party. No rushing. Just the two of them, their people, and a clear intention to enjoy every moment.
As a Malcolm Hotel wedding photographer, days like this are the sweet spot. Calm energy. A thoughtful plan. Space to breathe.
They both got ready together in their hotel room, setting the tone for a day that felt connected right from the start. Their first look took place on the Grand Staircase at The Malcolm Hotel. Tucked into a quiet corner with huge windows and mountain views, it was private and emotional. Elaine tapped Allan on the shoulder, and everything else faded away. The Rocky Mountains were there, but all eyes were on them.
Afterward, we headed out to Quarry Lake Park and a few nearby spots around the hotel. Canmore makes it easy to create variety without going far. Permits were in place, the plan was solid, and the day flowed exactly as intended. No surprises. Just presence and fun.
Intentional moments, beautifully lived
Without a wedding party, Allan and Elaine had time. Time to laugh during formals. Time to enjoy being together. Time to actually experience their wedding day. Their energy was playful and relaxed, and it showed in every frame.
Following the ceremony, guests gathered for appetizers near the reception space. It was casual and social. People mingled, grabbed bites, and we moved through the room capturing real moments between friends and family. The kind of photos that feel alive.
One of the most meaningful parts of the day was the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Allan and Elaine changed into stunning red attire with rich patterns and gold stitching. The ceremony took place behind The Malcolm Hotel, with the Three Sisters rising behind them. It was striking, emotional, and rooted in tradition.

Their officiant, Cole, brought warmth and energy to the ceremony. His presence added ease and meaning without ever feeling heavy, which fit the day perfectly.
Client Review
“Hiring MJ&Co. was like finding the last piece of the wedding-planning puzzle - and it was a darn good piece! Picture this: we’re planning our big day in Canmore, sifting through photographers in the Kananaskis area. However, MJ&Co. kept winking at us like the cool kids at the party. Their online portfolio felt like swiping right on our wedding soulmates, and the idea of bringing a bit of Saskatoon to the mountains sounded like a great wedding adventure.
Matt and Crystal were like our camera-slinging superheroes. Their friendly and easy-going personalities made us feel so comfortable in front of the lens that we could just be our authentic selves. From the first discovery call to the final reveal session, the whole experience was an absolute delight. We wanted MJ&Co. to tell our story, and they knocked it out of the park. Matt and Crystal captured our day perfectly.
So, if you’re still playing hide-and-seek with the perfect wedding photographer, stop looking and hire MJ&Co.! It’s easy to see that they are highly skilled and very passionate about their work. If we could give them more than 5 stars, we definitely would!”
If you are planning a Malcolm Hotel wedding in Canmore and want photography that feels natural, intentional, and timeless, book a discovery call with MJ&Co. We would love to tell your story.
