When it comes to photographing weddings, it is part planning, part style, and part luck. For Dustin & Des, they nailed the planning (of course they would because Des works with the Lux Events team), they nailed the style perfect for who they are (aren’t they cute?), and old man winter stayed away for one more day. We travelled from Saskatoon, SK to Canmore, AB to photograph the wedding, and part of the preparations we do is see what the weather will be like. Every single day including the day before the wedding, it was calling for snow in Canmore.

“this was our first time ever shooting in the midst of the Rockies.”

We are based in the prairies, and this was our first time ever shooting in the midst of the Rockies. In the prairies, we watch for sunset, but in the mountains, we needed to be careful of where the sun would be, and how the mountains (specifically Ha Ling Peak) would hide the park where the ceremony and some of the portraits would take place. So what did we do? We scouted at the ceremony location in Quarry Lake Park at the ceremony time the day prior. Boy did it all work perfectly! It was a cool day being in late October, but in the sun, the couple and their family and friends enjoyed what may be one of the most beautiful ceremonies ever.

It all ended at the Iron Goat restaurant for the intimate reception overlooking Canmore, and the Three Sisters. Congratulations Dustin and Des! We are so thrilled to know you, and honoured to have captured your special day.
