Love (2020) Isn’t Cancelled

2020 hasn't been so bad. I wouldn't use the word easy when thinking of 2020, but it isn't bad. In fact, I think it has been a good year. A great year.

My loved ones all know that we photograph weddings, are always curious how this year has been for us. How challenging it has been. So I've been answering that question over and over for the past few months. We did shut down for 80 days, but when we came back, we were blessed with work. A wedding season that we thought was a write off has been filled with love. Most of our clients are still going ahead with their wedding day this year. Many actually are happy that it's forced to be smaller. We've been able to photograph families, and work for our commercial clients. So when people ask, "How have things been?" I always say better than I was expecting.

This vlog was filmed August 14, 2020 in Banff/Lake Louise/Moraine Lake.

This trip only happened because of COVID-19. One of our couples who booked us for their wedding in Saskatoon couldn't have the wedding they planned, so they moved it to the Banff Springs Hotel. They still wanted us to capture their day, so we said "HECK YES!" and headed to the mountains.

Since we were already heading to the Rockies, we asked one of our other clients if they still wanted their engagement session at Moraine Lake. They were game!

What started as a major disappointment for our year has quickly turned into one of the most memorable. Change has been good. It's been good for me, it's been good for many of my clients.

I am thankful to everyone who has supported us this summer. I'm thankful to everyone who has asked us how things have been. I'm most thankful that it's been a year to remember making memories with and for beautiful people.

Enjoy this vlog! We had a blast making it, and a special thanks to my wife Crystal for filming it.
