What can we say about Andy and Barb, except that they are one of the most fun couples we’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. Matt actually goes way back with Andy and went to high school with him!

Andy & Barb’s sunny May wedding day started out with the girls getting ready at the Parktown Hotel and the guys getting ready at Andy & Barb’s place. Barb’s easy going nature and great sense of humour was evident right from the get-go, even with the hotel suite air conditioner broken and everyone’s makeup threatening to melt off of their faces. Who knew it could get soo hot in a small room with floor to ceiling windows and the sun streaming in? Andy chose to wear a kilt to honour his Scottish heritage and while Andy’s morning was a little bit cooler than Barb’s, he spent it trying to stop the flow of blood from a war wound on his lip. Note to self – Don’t go to battle with a razor on your wedding day, it just might win. You can view some pretty awesome footage of the whole day, including the shaving incident shot by Kappaco Films here.

Despite all of the morning’s quirks, both Andy and Barb made it to the church on time and had a wonderful ceremony at Knox United Church in  downtown Saskatoon. This was such a unique wedding to photograph, because not only was Andy wearing a kilt which is a bit of a change from the standard suit or tux, but because of Barb’s Vietnamese heritage, she also had two outfits to show off during the day! Barb wore a beautiful white gown for the ceremony and for most of the formal pictures, but changed into a traditional red Vietnamese dress for the reception. We were in heaven because it meant getting to photograph the bride in 2 stunning dresses instead of just one.

The day wrapped up with a reception at the German Cultural Centre. We had a fantastic meal followed by some great speeches. The night ended with some great dancing and some awesome Dj’ing done by Nick of Myles Away Entertainment. Nick has been friends with Andy since high school and was also Andy’s best man for his big day.  We’ve also featured Nick and his DJ business once before on our blog and just in case you missed it, you should really check it out and watch the video that’s included in the post. He is definitely number one on our list of DJ’s we recommend when clients ask us.

Andy & Barb we wish you all the best and we are so honoured we got to be there for you on your wedding day!

Love
